Picking the Right Roll Former for Your Business

Are you deciding to invest in a roll former to help your business? You may have a lot of questions! Buying a roll former is a significant investment, and choosing a suitable machine to help boost your efficiency and productivity is imperative.

When you are considering what manufacturer to go with, it is essential to consider several factors. Experience and reputation really matter. By selecting a company with knowledge and expertise to help find the right roll former for you, you can rest assured you will pick a machine that helps take your business to the next level.

Here is a guide of things any business owner must consider before investing in a roll forming machine:

Evaluating the marketplace

Conducting thorough research in your intended market's current needs and demands will help you determine which direction to take your business in next.

Consider what profiles you are planning to sell. Is there a demand for them? Who is your intended customer? What is the competition doing? Once you are clear on the type of profiles you will sell, you can then identify the correct piece of equipment you will need to help you produce them.

What is your estimated volume of sales in your first year? This is another vital question to help you better understand whether a roll forming machine will be a good investment for your business right now. Your sales volume is linked to your production needs. If you can predict how much you will sell, you can predict what kind of equipment you will need for production. It would help if you also considered future needs. Making a plan for how your company will grow can also be a big factor in your decision-making process.

Your needs Vs. your budget

Once you have a good grasp of your indeed market and how you will service that market, you can consider your equipment needs. Young businesses tend to begin with the same three pieces of roll forming equipment and grow from there. These include a panel roll former - and investing in a high-quality machine is paramount. It would help if you also considered investing in a folder or trim brake which will bend the trim parts and a slitter or shear to cut it to the precise length for your needs.

Research your partners

If you are hoping to invest in a quality roll former, you also need to consider your other suppliers and factor them into your plan and budget. Coil suppliers, screw suppliers, closure and accessory suppliers, and lending institutions should be researched so you have a complete inventory of suppliers and all the technical support you need before you begin.

Create a business plan

Your business plan is key to your success. The factors that you need to include in a thorough business plan are service demands. If you are a smaller business, do you intend to offer a same or next day service to customers? The higher level of service you can offer, the better you will stand out amongst your competition. It would be best if you also determined your pricing. Pricing is a huge factor in any purchasing decision, so you must be able to offer products at competitive prices. Finally, you may wish to consider what your USP could be to put you ahead of the competition. Some good selling points could be offering:

1. One-piece corners or rakes with long trim
2. Premium packaging and delivery choices such as roll-off trucks or rental trailers
3. A wider range of color offerings or unusual color options
4. A broader range of designer profiles
